Home [A Call From Achewood]

I suppose this could be considered more of an experimental piece, or collage of concepts I’ve had in mind for quite some times. I’m very fond of Chris Onstad’s web comic “Achewood”, and a panel in the storyline for Philippe’s Journey Home has one of the most heartwrenching and considerate monologues I’ve ever read, by chance. I loved it so much that I adapted it into a voice over monologue (spoken by Drue Eberhart.)

The other part of this is that in 2008, my home of 14 years burned to the ground, son. Something about the Santa Ana winds, ember literally hopping over a freeway, and Arnold Schwarzenegger visiting my stupid little town. Anyway, things are all good, but the concepts riddled throughout the written piece reminded me too much about that part of my life. I figured why not observe some houses and apartments on fire while the friggin’ Disintegration Loops by William Basinski drone on on the background? WHY NOT?
